She dazzled us in How The Grinch Stole Christmas, but instead of singing "Where Are You Christmas" we are now left asking "Where are you Taylor?" She was one of the best characters on Gossip Girl, and had some of the best fashion, on screen and off. But somewhere along the (eye) line (r), something took a dark turn. Surely this pale faced, raccoon-eyed, Taylor 2.0 can not be the Taylor we've known all these years! I write this while listening to The Pretty Reckless, Taylor's rock band. A semi decent album with a handful of great songs, albeit an extremely forced 'rock' persona. I applaud Taylor for her fashion risks, doing what she wants, and for being an explorative teenager, she's only 17! I mean, if I could have started a rock band off when I was 17 you can bet I definitely would NOT have. Which is what I like about Taylor, she has the courage to not give a fuck, and just do it. But I just can't get behind the whole "I'm rock" persona. I like it, I think it's cool. I just don't buy it. Which brings us to the Pictrospective. A look back at Taylor, through the years. Notice as the smiles fade while the eye liner gets bigger...

Never Forget. I'm still holding out for classic Little J...
What do you think of her whole rock look/band/transition? |
I'm still a whole season behind on GG, but I think her downfall started when they had her character start hanging out with that model girl (the girl who played Marissa's little sister on the OC) then I think she tried to bring that bad-ass-ness into her real life and went way overboard. Her hair and eyes are insane.
ReplyDeleteI honestly have to say, her transition is... interesting. The last thing I saw her in was Underdog, and she was so adorable as little Cindy Lou Who. But, if this is who she is, then... let her live her lfe.
